4. General description and publishing schedule
- Mirgorod: An International Journal of the History and Epistemology of Contemporary Literary Studies is an academic journal exercising double-blind peer review.
- The Editor welcomes submissions on:
-the epistemology of contemporary literary studies: conceptions of literature in the context of sciences and humanities, as well as against the background of everyday notions of literature, anthropology and science
– literary theory: its history, current state and future
-the problem of a common language and terminology of literary scholarship.
-Submissions may be received in the form of articles of between 15,000-40,000 in length; longer pieces may be also considered. All articles must be accompanied by abstracts. All submissions should be sent to the Editor: mirgorod.press@gmail.com - Every issue of the journal carries a number of book reviews. Publishers wishing to submit their books for review should send requests to the Editor: mirgorod.press@gmail.com
- All contributors to the journal (the authors of articles and book reviews) should provide a biographical note, stating their academic affiliation(s), degree(s).
- The journal is published twice a year and released in June and December.
5. Editor and referee board
- The Editor of the journal is responsible for receiving submissions, actioning peer review, informing the contributors of the outcome of review, requesting changes to the submissions from the contributors, making a final decision on the submissions that will go to print with the next issue, copy-editing the submissions, putting the journal together, seeing the journal to print.
- The Editor is appointed by the Executive Committee of the journal.
- The referee board is responsible for the blind peer review of the articles, and notes and queries submitted to the journal.
- Members of the referee board are distinguished academics with an active interest in epistemology of contemporary Literary Studies, theory of literature, or terminology and a relevant publication record.
6. Authors and their responsibilities
- The journal does not charge its authors any publication, handling or postage fees. All authors are entitled to a free copy of the journal.
- Authors are responsible for the content, expression, and citation accuracy of their submissions. The style guidelines for the journal are available on its webpage. Every submission must have references and works cited formatted in accordance with the style guidelines. Authors are also responsible for clearing any copyright issues prior to submission. Authors should provide corrections following both peer review and copy-editing.
7. Peer review
- All articles, and notes and queries submitted to the journal are subjected to peer review.
- When allocating submissions for review, the Editor takes into consideration the topic/area of a submission and a referee’s expertise in that topic/area. Prior to review, submissions are anonymized and treated confidentially.
- Articles are double-blind peer-reviewed, whereas notes and queries are peer-reviewed by a member of the referee board.
- The Editor sends articles to be reviewed by a member of the referee board and by another academic in literature studies who is not a member of the referee board.
- The peer review process normally takes up to eight weeks. Reviewers are asked to fill in a referee form wherein they provide general comments, suggest alterations, and state their decision in the form of either a recommendation to publish without alterations, with some alterations, and following major alterations, or a rejection.
- On receiving the referee forms from reviewers, the Editor ensures their anonymity and shares the feedback with the author. The Editor also describes to the author the amendments that need to be done further, if the submission has been recommended for publication, and by what deadline.
8. Publication ethics
- The Editor, members of the referee board, and external reviewers will take reasonable steps to identify research misconduct, such as plagiarism, infringement, misquotation, libel, misrepresentation.
- In the event that the Editor is made aware of any allegation of research misconduct, the Editor will deal with allegations by requesting clarification from the author.
- The journal will publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when needed.
9. Copyright and access
- Authors retain their proprietary rights. All intellectual property remains with the author(s) of the work published in the journal, provided that they acknowledge Mirgorod as the initial publication of their work.
- Mirgorod supports Open Access (since 2020), with no embargo period imposed on any individualwork.
10. Archiving
- All past issues will be made available on this platform in their entirety.
